The Sleeping Habits of Our Twins

The Sleeping Habits of Our Twins

Hi Everyone,

Today I wanted to talk a little bit about sleep. As new parents, sleep is always at the front of the mind—both for us and for our babies. When the twins get a full night’s sleep, so do Jeff and I and a well-rested dad makes a happy dad, right? We’ve been so lucky that the twins have luckily been pretty good sleepers so far! Admittedly, it was a little bit touch-and-go in the beginning, but that all changed very quickly once we started using the Snoo from Happiest Baby.

If you follow any new mom or dad on Instagram, then you’ve probably seen this modern and innovative bassinet. It’s so sleek on the outside, but that’s not even the main selling point. This responsive bassinet has so many advanced features that literally help sleep train your baby. The built-in swaddle and white noise machine is just the tip of the iceberg as to why this bassinet is life-changing

Getting any baby on a sleep schedule can be difficult, but, with twins, it can be a particular challenge if they are separated. **Tip:** if you have twins have them sleep in the same room and in close proximity to each other for as long as possible. Their ability to sense each other’s presence is extremely soothing to them as babies because of how tightly they are bonded from their time together in the womb. Although the twins have separate nurseries, for now, we have them sleeping in one together so they don’t get separated before their ready. Additionally, we’ve found that focusing on a few different elements such as swaddling, sound, and rocking the baby to sleep has drastically impacted our babies’ and our abilities to sleep for the better. Here's why...

## Swaddling

Swaddling is so important to a baby’s ability to sleep because it keeps them from waking themselves up from their own movement. Additionally, a swaddle can drastically decrease the baby’s chance of rolling over onto his or her stomach while sleeping, which can be extremely dangerous and in some cases result in SIDS. Luckily, the Snoo has a built-in swaddle that straps into the base of the bassinet keeping the baby securely in place throughout the entire duration of their sleep. This feature gives Jeff and I great peace of mind when it’s time for us to sleep knowing that our twins are sleeping safe and sound strapped into their Snoos.

## White Noise

White noise has also proven to be effective in helping the babies get to sleep quickly and seamlessly. One of the remarkable features of the Snoo is the built-in white noise machine that plays sounds mimicking what a baby would have heard while he or she was in the womb. If the babies are seeming particularly fussy, putting these sounds on seems to calm them almost instantly. The added bonus of being able to control these features from an app on your phone has been a true godsend for us as we can turn on and control the volume of the noise while we are in our room or in various places around the house to try and soothe the baby before we needing to go and interrupt their naps to soothe them ourselves.

## Rocking

I know rocking a baby may not be a novel idea, but it really is such a vital component to soothing your baby. However, sometimes it can be a challenge to find just the right rocking pattern and speed that soothes rather than further agitates the baby. Another amazing feature of the Snoo is its swinging feature. It can operate on four different levels and is easily adjustable from your phone or manually from the bassinet itself making it super easy to find the right movement for your baby. It’s also responsive, which is_amazing._SNOO has specially calibrated microphones and if it senses too much fussiness, it will automatically adjust its speed and sound level until the baby is thoroughly calmed down. For those of you familiar with the “cry it out” method, this feature is amazing because it soothes them so much faster than they would on their own.

Happiest Baby also offers a variety of its products sold separately such as their amazingzip-up swaddle,Sleepea. This is perfect for when you’re traveling with a baby because it will give them a familiar feeling even if they're in a different crib than usual.

Being a new parent can be hard, but the Snoo makes it so much easier. Although it is definitely on the pricier side as far as bassinets go, it truly is worth the investment. If you’re not quite sold yet, you can rent a Snoo for less than $100 a month with as little as a one-month commitment and try it out for yourself. If you're having any struggles getting your new babe to sleep, the Snoo may just be the solution you’ve seen searching for. We’re so grateful to have ours!

Cheers!

Xx
