I’m so excited to continue our tour of the Gray Malin Getaway House with the Bunk Room!
For this room, it was really interesting to solve the problem of how to include multiple beds in one room - but in a stylish way that worked with the rest of the house. We wanted it to be both fun and functional, a great place for multiple kids or even a full family to sleep.
We created more sleeping spaces by adding head-to-head top bunks - adding a twist on the always magical and coveted space to sleep as a child - with a structure that allowed for wider ladders leading to each upper bunk. The queen-sized bottom bunk is perpendicular to the top bunks, creating a natural space for bedside tables and the cloth backed headboard. The distinctive bunk structure juxtaposes nicely with the whimsical and playful prints of Montecito’s very own San Ysidro Ranch, including “Wild Welcome, San Ysidro Ranch” and “Alpacas on the Lawn”. I loved using local artwork in this space that is fun for kids and adults alike.

We tied in elements from other rooms in the house, including the blue paint, wicker touches with both the lamps and Williams Sonoma bench, and of course the fabulous linens from Biscuit Home and towels from Weezie. Speaking of bringing the outside in - the star wallpaper on the ceiling is a whimsical nod to beautiful Montecito nights, while the greens and blues woven into the curtains and pillows play nicely off the beautiful landscaping just outside the window.
Thank you for reading about all of the updates to the Bunk Room, one of the comfiest rooms in the house. If you’re ready to check out the Bunk Room, you can book your stay at the Getaway House here!

P.S. The bathroom for the Bunk Room is equally as fabulous - stay tuned for all the details - coming later this summer!
