Hi Everyone,

Today marks my last photography release of 2018, and the muse of this photograph is none other than the world-renowned symbol of the holidays, the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. Without much further ado, please allow me to share the first of its kind photograph, the aptly named _Gray Malin x Rockefeller Center Tree_.

It is completely surreal to share this imagewith you all today, as it was only one year ago that I shivered atop the rooftop of Saks Fifth Avenue on a 3-foot tall step ladder (with my team tightly holding the legs because we were on ice!) in order to capture it! It had snowed in New York earlier that day, so the rooftop was pretty slippery with melting snow and it was freezing. This was definitely something we had to work around but the snowfall on the buildings’ rooftops made it well worth it in the end.

I had anticipated that the center's pools would mesmerize me, however once standing from my special point of view, I found myself being especially drawn to the Channel Gardens. There is something very subtle yet stunningly beautiful about a garden in the wintertime. From the composition of the towering buildings, to the skaters sparkling atop the ice rink, to the visitors scattered about, the combination flowed like a holiday song melody and the result is the image you all are seeing today.

I, like so many, grew up with the annual tradition of gathering around the television with my family to watch the Rockefeller Center tree light up for the first time of the season. Even now as an adult, I feel giddy with joy when I see it revealed each year. When the opportunity to photograph it presented itself, I felt like that excited kid all over again. I am honored to release this photograph for collectors to enjoy and hope it brings the same joyful memories for years to come as it does the day the lights blink on for the first time eachyear.

Cheers,

Gray
