The Making of Dogs of Baseball

The Making of Dogs of Baseball

Hi Everyone!

I’m beyond excited to finally share my latest series, Dogs of Baseball! This one has been in the works for a while, and it’s been such a dream to bring it to life. I’ve always enjoyed combining my love of dogs with special locations, and this time, I got to capture these adorable pups in the heart of one of America’s most iconic sports landmarks— Citi Field™!

We were lucky enough to shoot this series over two beautiful, sunny days. Sure, it was a little hot (June in New York!), but the weather couldn’t have been better for a shoot at the ballpark. Even luckier, the rain didn’t show up until we had wrapped the next day— perfect timing! Shooting at a stadium was something I’d always wanted to do, and I couldn’t have asked for a better setting to create this baseball series.

We had a team of well-trained dogs that were incredible. With their baseball caps and sunglasses on, they were ready to play ball. Some were more than ready to run out onto the grass, and there was so much energy in the air as the pups took their place and began modeling!

We shot on the field, in the stands, and around the stadium, working within the hours the grounds crew had set for us. It was amazing to see how everything came together in order for us to bring this vision to life.

There’s something magical about capturing dogs in these playful moments that we don’t get to usually see them in. The goal was to capture the essence of classic baseball but with a playful twist that only dogs could bring. From the first pitch to the last snap of the camera, I couldn’t have asked for a better shoot.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to bring this idea to life and to have shot in a place that holds so much history and excitement. I hope you enjoy the Dogs of Baseball series as much as I enjoyed shooting it! Do you have a favorite pup from the series? Find me on instagram @graymalin and let me know!

Cheers,

Xx Gray
