Tessa Scott’s Redondo Beach Home

Hi Everyone,

I’m so excited to be sharing another amazing home tour with you. Today we’re heading to Redondo Beach to tour the home of Tessa Scott. We visited her laid-back, beachy home a few weeks back and got to hang out with her and her adorable pup Lil and I’m thrilled to finally be sharing the photos with all of you. In case you haven’t heard yet, we are currently running our Friends & Family sale event on our site where you can save up to 30% off sitewide. Get inspired by Tessa’s tour and then take advantage of our sale to add some new art to your space. Without further ado, I’m going to let Tessa take it away...

## Hi Tessa, thank you so much for opening your home up to us! Do you mind taking a few minutes to tell our audience a little bit about yourself?

> I live with my husband, Eric, and our rescue pup named Lil (who we are beyond obsessed with) in Redondo Beach, CA. We moved here from Pasadena about six months ago, and we have loooved living so close to the water. We’re homebodies and very into “slow living,” so we spend a lot of time relaxing at home, walking our dog by the beach, or going out to our favorite restaurants. My husband works as an advertising creative, and I work for a boutique digital media company called Polka Dot Media.

## I understand you wear a lot of different hats in your job, could you tell us a little bit about what you do and how you got started on your career path? Did you always want to work in social media/content or did you fall into it?

> Believe it or not, I kind of fell into my current career! It was very serendipitous. I studied advertising in college just like my husband, but didn’t love it once I graduated and got into the real world. So I started seeking out other options that interested me in the fields of fashion, beauty, lifestyle, etc. and PDM happened to be looking to fill a position on their team at the time. It was basically perfect timing, and just meant to be! I do a little bit of everything for our clients… creating content, copywriting, managing social media channels, content strategy, email marketing, and styling and assisting in photo shoots. Definitely many hats. :)

## When did you join the Polka Dot Media Team? What’s your favorite part of your job?

> I’ve been part of PDM for three and a half years now, since 2016. There are so many things I love about my job, but I would have to say my favorite thing is the flexibility of our schedule, and the opportunity to discover new talents I didn’t know I had! Fun fact: I have become the designated hand model on our team… Never in a million years did I think that would be part of my day-to-day life, but it should honestly be part of my job title at this point! But we’re always doing so many different things, I love that I never get bored.

## Let’s switch gears now to your beautiful home! Will you tell us a little bit about it?

> We live in a two-story townhome, and what initially drew me to it was the black exterior. It has four bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, and it was actually a new build, so we didn’t have to do much once we moved in! (However, I just finished DIY-ing board and batten on the walls of our guest bedroom downstairs and that was a true labor of love.) Our home itself is basically a modern farmhouse, but our decor is a mix of modern, traditional, and coastal, with some vintage-inspired touches.

## Do you think your personal fashion style aligns with your interior decor style? If so, how?

> I would say yes. I generally dress pretty casual and simple, and I think our home reflects that. I honestly feel the most “me” in jeans, a white tee, Vans, and a cool jacket, and I feel like our home is kind of the design equivalent of that. Casual, comfortable, and not too stuffy, but still has a cool vibe.

## When were you first introduced to the GM brand? What was your first piece? Do you have a favorite print or series?

> I was introduced to the GM brand when I began working with PDM a few years ago! We work closely with Gray, so I got a crash-course in the GM brand and fell in love with it. My first piece was The Fox. I saw it in Monica Wang’s home tour and the monochromatic color scheme and texture just spoke to me. After that, I bought Sunrise, Poolside Phone Call, Pink Sheep, and now also own Ocean Beach Wave, SF. I honestly can’t choose just one favorite series… but at this particular moment, I’m obsessed with the rocky cliffs in Gray’s images from Big Sur, and I’m still itching for a print from Cote d’Azur as well.

## What drew you to Ocean Beach Wave, San Francisco for above your bench?

> We had a big, blank wall that I knew I wanted some artwork on, but I also didn’t want it to overpower everything else in the room. Since it was large-scale and something we walk by literally every day, I wanted it to feel beautiful, calm, and neutral. As soon as I saw this print, I knew it checked all my boxes!

## What about the Gray Malin lifestyle brand do you connect with?

> I love that there’s something for everyone in Gray’s work, and there’s also a sense of nostalgia in several of his series that I totally connect with. One of my favorite things is scouring vintage and antique stores, and I feel like many of his prints could be treasures you’d discover in one of these stores, but with a fresh and modern twist.

Thank you so much again, Tessa for letting us come in to photograph your home! Don’t forget to take advantage of our sitewide Friends & Family promotion and refresh your space with brand new art.

Cheers!

Xx

Gray
