Hi Everyone,

Hope you’re weekend is off to a fantastic start! Mine certainly is, and I’m very excited to tell you all about it. Today marks the launch ofModernism Week, which is a huge annual event that celebrates the best of mid-century architecture and design, in Palm Springs. This is an event that I have attended numerous times in the past, as I am an avid fan of Palm Springs as well as passionate about architecture and interior design.

Already on the radar, I was immediately intrigued when friend and fellow Palm Springs aficionado,Kelly Golightly, reached out with very exciting news as well as a potential Modernism Week opportunity. You see, her house had been chosen to be the official showhouse for theChristopher Kennedy Showhouse, sponsored byTraditional Home.

In an exciting new twist to this already celebrated event by designerChristopher, he decided to partner with Kelly, an influential lifestyleblogger, to renovate her spectacularly located 6,500 square foot home in the hills of Palm Springs. With over twenty of the nation’s most notable tastemakers participating in creating unique rooms and spaces in this decorator showcase, Kelly was reaching out that day to specifically invite me to be one of them!

As I’m sure you all have already guessed, my answer was a resounding, “Yes!” It was such a dream invitation, as I love interior design and have been so inspired this past year with variousredesignsin my home, that I jumped at the chance to step into an official role of a designer for this wonderful event.

I was ready and all ears for next steps, which was getting my assigned spot in the house. Much to my delight, I received the extremely appropriate space of the house’s “poolside.” Quite serendipitously, I had just finalized a brand new product collaboration with the esteemedSanta Barbara Designs **_®_**. Designing the poolside space was the perfect opportunity to allow for a sneak peek of one umbrella from the four limited edition collection of outdoor umbrellas, which will officially debut at the end of April.

Without much further ado…

## WON’T YOU COME OUTSIDE?

Immediately taking my inspirational cue from the desert landscape and the desire to bring a little of my beloved Mediterranean Coast into the arid climate, I landed on the “Rivazzurra” from the Santa Barbara Designs collaboration to design the space around. Inspired by my La Dolce Vita image,Tassel Umbrellas, I loved the color combination for this mid-century modern moment.

With the artwork, stunningly inspired umbrella, and color palette established, I turned my attention to the furniture and more importantly - how to chicly provide shade after a dip in the pool. Knowing the incredible product Santa Barbara Designs creates, it was an effortless decision to go with theirPavilion. As for the furniture, I knew I wanted something unique and perhaps a bit unexpected. Being an avid pinner@GrayMalin, I took to my account to review previously pinned inspiration boards, and came across the outdoor furniture brand,Amalfi Living. I fell in love with the Phoenician collection, which I was able to customize accordingly on the colors with Sunbrella fabric. The snow white curves of the tables and furniture combined with the turquoise cushions with white piping turned out better than I could have imagined.

Adding the final details of throw pillows, a Gray Malinacrylic trayfrom our Spring 17 collection, and a sisal outdoor rug, I felt satisfied to call this project a complete and I certainly hope that you agree and have enjoyed!

Before you go, though…

## WANT A PEEK INSIDE?

There are so many other massively talented designers participating in theChristopher Kennedy Compoundincluding my friend Sal Camerena, who you’ve methere, as well as Joy Cho ofohjoy!, and the talented ladies behindTrellis Home. To see a full list of the tastemakers, look no further than righthere, but in the meantime, I’d like to take a moment to share the master bedroom designed by Allison and Liza of Trellis Home.

Again with the sneak peeks, I let the ladies get a first look at my upcoming Italian Geometric beach aerials (which are set to launch in April). They had reached out wanting a muted tone image, specificallyWhite Umbrellas. Knowing that I had these new images, which I shot last year, I couldn’t resist letting them see an alternative...only if they wanted, of course. It’s always nerve-rackingshowing someone new work, but I had to take the chance with this one and I’m thrilled that I did! The ladies incorporated it beautifully into their design and I’m excited to show you all a first look at the upcoming ‘White Cabanas, Tuscany’ print - stay tuned for more later this spring.

If youcan make it toPalm Springs, I invite you to stop into this incredibly inspired showhouse. You will, without question, leave wanting more and filled to the rim with ideas for your own decor. Thanks so much for stopping by! To follow along with all of this week’s excitement be sure to check out @modernism\_week@kellygolightlyand &@christopherkennedyinc
