How to Throw an Oscars Party

How to Throw an Oscars Party

One of our favorite events of the season is just on the horizon… The Academy Awards! So, who’s ready to join us for a viewing party? Since the Oscars is exclusively invite-only, we won’t be gracing the red carpet per se, but we’ll definitely be rolling out our own “red carpet” for a swanky night at home—mingling with friends, popping the bubbly, and anxiously waiting to see if our Oscar predictions become reality. That being said, if you want to throw your own Oscars viewing party at home and truly do the MOST, then keep scrolling for a few pointers fit for a night with the stars…

## Send Out Invites

…And that does not mean sending your friends a group text. Since the Oscars is the exclusive event of the season, take the time to design a simple and chic invite to send out in the actual mail ahead of time to your invite-only guests. Not only will it set the mood for the entire night, but it will make your friends and family feel important! This is also the perfect way to indicate a dress code for your soirée (if any), so your guests know what to expect.

## Set the Scene

When inviting guests into your home and taking on the role of host or hostess, it’s all about setting the scene to give off the vibe you want your party to have. The Academy Awards are dripping in glitz and glamour, so your home should reflect that. No, we’re not talking about actually rolling out a red carpet and hiring paparazzi… but setting out your best serveware, displaying your rosé with care, adding some pops of confetti, and maybe even lighting a few candles to create a warm and inviting space would be nice. Or, go one step further and deck out your space in an Oscars-themed color palette of red and gold… lots and lots of gold.

## Don’t Leave Your Guests Hungry

Whether you’re planning on a night where lots of guests are coming and going, or you’ve selected a handful of close friends to stick around and watch the Oscars from start to finish with you, make sure you have a proper menu to serve them. If you want to keep things on the lighter side, stick to hors d’oeuvres or a charcuterie board. If your guests will be there for more than an hour, consider diving into a more involved menu, complete with appetizers, a small main course that can be eaten while mingling, and dessert.

## Curate Your Bar

Since the Oscars are all about celebrating, a stunning, well-organized bar is a must. Whether this means offering an impressive selection of bubbly, creating a house cocktail (like Gray’s red carpet spritz!), or a combination of both, just make sure no detail is overlooked. Not only does the menu itself matter, but the presentation is equally important. See what we mean below…

## Dress the Part

If all the stars are going full glam on Oscars night, then why shouldn’t you? Okay, so maybe you won’t be showing up in black-tie attire, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use the Academy Awards as an excuse to pull out that fab outfit that’s been sitting in your closet, just waiting for an event. A formal or semi-formal dress code sets the tone, and is guaranteed to add that extra touch of glamour we crave. Besides, sipping Champagne always feel more luxurious when you’re dressed to the nines, right?

## Include Games and Goodie Bags

Awards night is always fun to watch as it is, but you can add another level of entertainment to your party by sprinkling in an Oscar-themed game or two. Keep it simple and create a guessing game at the beginning of the night where guests pick their top winner predictions in each category, and reward the winners with a small prize. Then, at the end of the night, make sure to send each guest home with a small goodie bag as a thank you for coming, filled with whatever gifts and treats fit your budget.

**Are you going to throw an Oscars party with these tips?**

It’s sure to be an award-winning night, no doubt…

Cheers!
