How to Decorate Antiques in a Modern Style with Litt Concept House

Hi Everyone!

We're very excited to share a beautiful, antique furniture store we discovered local to Los Angeles, Litt Concept House. LCH is a second-generation family-run furniture and home decor brand founded in 1973 located in Sherman Oaks, CA. At Litt, you can discover one-of-a-kind pieces and collectibles for your home that are rich in history and sourced all over the world.

We thought it would be an inspiring place to style a few of my prints differently than we typically do – with antiques! We worked with co-owner, Dina Litt, to create vignettes with my photography and her bespoke items that will hopefully inspire you to create your own.

Between Dina’s gorgeous aesthetic, their eye for sourcing one-of-a-kinds, and Kevin’s furniture design background, it is truly a special story. I'm thrilled she was willing to take the time to share some of the vignettes throughout her showroom with all of us, and how to decorate antiques in a modern style. I hope this inspires you to find new ways to style your art with antiques – it can completely transform a room! Without further ado, let's get started!

## We’re so excited to be visiting your gorgeous store today! Tell us a little about yourself.
> Why thank you! We are excited to have you. I fell into owning a furniture store, however, interior design and styling (architecture really) has always been my passion. Maybe I sort of channeled it? LOL!

## Your career seems so interesting! Can you give us a little peek into what you do?
> As a co-owner with my husband, we divide and conquer. I focus on marketing & partnerships, merchandising, working with interior designers, our staff, and anything else that falls into my lap on a given day. My husband, Kevin, is a furniture designer, so he naturally handles product development and knows almost everything about every piece in our store. However he also has a passion and self-taught skill for tech. He designed our website and handles all things IT. Basically, he oversees operations and everything else!

## How did you get into the world of antiques and interior design?
> My in-laws built this business together and have been sourcing antiques from all over the world for 50 years. I’ve always been an admirer of their business and have had an appreciation for antiques. I guess it was our natural fate to take over their business once they retired and make it our own. After a home renovation of our own I got deeper into design and interiors. I became inspired by the joy that comes with good design and satisfaction in helping people find special products for their home.

## Tell us about your interior design style/ how you style your store and own home?
> My style is eclectic, I don’t focus on matching as much as I do pulling pieces that work together. I would say my personal style is Rustic-Provincial with elements of Modern which I might bring in with art and other natural materials.

## What do you love most about antiques?
> I love that antiques are handmade and one-of-a-kind, pieces that no one else will have. You just can’t beat the details and craftsmanship. Knowing someone spent weeks, months on a piece and did it with their hands and then that it survived hundreds of years.

## What are some tips on styling antiques with modern accents such as a GM print?

> It was really fun selecting GM pieces that worked with our antiques. I specifically selected from the Dogs of Paris collection and paired with French pieces that were pretty serious. I love the juxtaposition of a fancy antique French Louis IX commode with dark walnut and a marble top and the playful scene of dogs on the Seine. This collection also looked adorable paired with a rustic american pine cabinet as a “morning moment” for coffee. What a fun way to start the day with a vision of Dogs in Paris while you sip away.
> GM’s aerial Hawaii beach scenes I paired with a more casual bleached antique american bench and upholstery. The Manai Lani scene made it to our own home (this is where my husband and I got married) and it looks amazing with our oak dining table paired with black tall spindle back chairs.

What aspect of the Gray Malin lifestyle brand do you connect with the most?
##
> I really enjoy how playful and happy GM’s photography is. He does such a good job capturing the moment. I also love the themes, they are meaningful and there is something for everyone to connect to. For example, the Puglia beach scene was the best gift for a friend turning 5-0. This was the most perfectly thoughtful gift, as this was the spot my friend was going to celebrate her magical birthday.
