Gray Malin Getaway House Reveal

Gray Malin Getaway House Reveal

Hi Friends,

The day is finally here! The Gray Malin Getaway House is officially complete and open for booking, and I’m beyond excited to share the reveal with you. This house is a magical place to build memories with your family or friends as it sleeps 10+ people, with 4 bedrooms, and has a thoughtfully designed outdoor space with a bocce court, fire pit, spa, sun loungers and dining terrace. The real gem of the Getaway House is the location. It is within walking distance to one of the most beautiful beaches in California, Butterfly Beach, and the Montecito Country Mart, where you can shop, dine or grab your morning coffee. Although, you may never want to leave the property!

My family and I checked into the house as the first guests this past weekend and the experience was even better than we could have ever imagined! Seeing the reactions of my kids to the completed house that they had visited for the past few months in all stages of progress was so special. It is surreal to think back to my first post announcing this project and now revealing it today.

One of the most fun surprises I am excited to share today is that we partnered with Williams-Sonoma to outfit the entire home — inside and out — with their incredible portfolio of timeless furnishings. I am a huge fan of Williams-Sonoma so to elevate the house with such comfortable, expertly crafted pieces really took the interior and exterior to the next level! Our designer Madison Nicole also sourced gorgeous fabrics, window treatments and color stories to pull the entire house together in a beautiful way.

The Great Room

The room that probably went through the biggest transformation was the great room. It previously was used as a game room with the focal point being a ping pong table. We wanted to transform this room into a comfortable and inviting space for gathering in front of the fire, late night laughs, or a game of charades.

We completely gutted the kitchen and transformed it into the heart and soul of the home complete with a new island, sink and a shiny La Cornue stove. We also partnered with Williams-Sonoma to include their premium kitchenware and housewares in every drawer so guests can get a taste of what it’s like to experience a dream Williams-Sonoma kitchen! This room is meant to spark your inner chef or just gather for your morning coffee or a midnight snack.

The Bar

A true Getaway House wouldn’t be complete without a fabulous bar! In order to make this experience very special we layered in my artwork from the Gray Malin x Tequila Don Julio collection shot over the agave fields in Jalisco. To take it to the next level we partnered with our friends at Don Julio to create a welcome package for guests upon their arrival. Can you guess what’s included?

The Dining Room

Through the kitchen you land in the dining room. I love a long dinner gabbing with family and friends when you don’t want the evening to end. This table allows those nights to happen, with a dining table that can easily seat 10 people and a fireplace that you can flip on if it gets a little chilly. We chose my The Celebration, Nikki Beach print to go over the fireplace, adding some fun and a sense of celebration to the space.

We created the perfect room for cozy movie nights, binge watching your favorite series or simply enjoying a good book in the reading nook.

We grass-clothed the walls and ceilings of the primary bedroom to create a warm and inviting space. Paired with my coastal prints from Italy, this room is truly an escape.

Designed with kids in mind, this room hosts two twin bunk beds and a queen size bed. This gives little ones a designated space to enjoy each other's company and play.

The Guest Room

Adorned with a custom headboard and matching window treatments this charming room might be one of my unexpected favorites in the house.

The Guest Bathroom

Designed to be a very functional bathroom this space is complete with a beautiful tub and separate shower space.

The perfect powder room with my iconic umbrella wallpaper collaboration with Mitchell Black. Plus an entryway that welcomes you into the home.

The Outdoor Living Space

We hired a landscape architect to completely redesign the outdoor space so guests can enjoy the best Montecito has to offer year-round. With multiple outdoor sitting areas, a fire pit, bocce ball court, spa, al fresco dining, and sun deck loungers, the space is an absolute dream — plus, the water features will bring a sense of utter tranquility. One of the primary design elements for the outdoor living space was using Monrovia Plants to keep the landscaping cohesive. We chose Winter Gem Boxwood as our primary ground cover, Bronze Carpet Stonecrop to add some color and Silver Streak Flax Lily to add dimension and shape. We wanted to make sure we got plants that worked in a coastal climate so the landscaping would stay lush year round.

There are so many more details for each of the rooms, so stay tuned for updates on those! This project was a huge undertaking, and I truly couldn’t have done it without the help of so many incredible people — I cannot thank them each enough! You can now officially book the Gray Malin Getaway House.

xx Gray
