Explore Natalie Borton's Cozy Home

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to share a beautiful, cozy home styling display that’s sure to inspire some fall decorating with Natalie Borton, just in time for our Free Framing and Shipping sale on all photography site-wide to inspire your next purchase. Natalie’s clean and homy aesthetic has always captured my eye. I love how she accents her home with warm, neutral colors making it feel inviting. Without further ado, let's get started!

## We’re so excited to be visiting your home today, can you tell us a little about it?

> We moved into this home a couple years ago. We actually found the neighborhood while driving around during the early days of the pandemic and told ourselves if anything popped up for sale there, we’d jump on it. Thankfully this house came to the market, was already renovated, and the timing was right for us to make the move. We absolutely love the house and our neighborhood and honestly don’t plan to move again! We do have some updates we want to make to the home to really make it our own (we still have some 90s design elements we’d like to eliminate), but knowing we will be there for a long time alleviates the pressure to do it immediately. I’m hopeful we can start to tackle our first project at some point next year.

## Your career seems so interesting! Can you tell us a bit more about what you do?

> Thanks! I was a jewelry designer for 7 years, and accidentally became an influencer while marketing my products on Instagram over the years. Gray Malin’s “Aquinnah Kayaker” has been in so many of my style videos! I closed my jewelry business earlier this year in order to focus on a new venture, The Shoppe Guide, and we are launching our e-commerce site next month. If you are interested in shopping mindfully and sustainably and favor quality over quantity, you’re going to love what we have for you! Cannot wait until it’s finally live.

## How do you balance your home life with your business?

> Since both my husband and I work full time, we rely heavily on a family calendar and are equally involved in home life and parenting. That makes such a difference in the week! Also, I take rest very seriously and avoid working in the evenings and on weekends so that I can spend time with my family. My favorite thing I’ve added to my life to help maintain my work boundaries is The Light Phone. On Friday afternoons I swap out my SIM card from my iPhone to my Light Phone and enjoy the simplicity of having a “dumb phone” that doesn’t have internet or social media. I always feel so much more present when I make the switch and it makes it easy to focus on living life and connecting with friends and family rather than working during those weekend days.

## When were you first introduced to the GM brand? What was your first piece?

> My husband and I have loved Gray Malin’s work for as long as I can remember! Specifically we’ve always been drawn to his aerial coastal photography. My first piece was a small, framed photo called “The Lifeguard Stand” and shortly after getting that one, we added “Aquinnah Kayaker.”

## Can you tell us a little bit more about what inspired your print choices?

> All of the prints I chose are not only visually intriguing, but more importantly remind me of locations that are very special to me and my family. My first two Gray Malin pieces are from New England, which is where my family is from. I chose “The Lifeguard Tower” largely because of how peaceful it made me feel and also because it was shot in a part of the east coast I’d always wanted to visit (The Hamptons). Martha's Vineyard is a very special place to us, as I'm originally from Massachusetts and we go there every summer, so I chose “Aquinnah Kayaker” to remind me of my time there. The depth of the colors drew me in immediately, and I have it hung in a room with a leather couch that it goes really well with. I love that it’s the first piece of art people see when they come into our home! The most recent large print addition to our home is “Route 1, Big Sur,” and we hung it in our bedroom. Big Sur is our favorite place to go as a couple and we try to visit once a year. I love waking up every morning and being mentally transported there — it always brings a sense of peace and it’s truly the most beautiful coastline!

## What is the next piece of GM art you hope to add to your collection?

> Lately I’ve been eyeing the animal photography to put in my kids’ rooms. Perfectly playful and lighthearted.

## How would you describe your home design style?

> Minimal, organic and laid back.

## What do you love most about fall, how does it impact the way you decorate your home?

> Fall is definitely my favorite season — I love the newness that comes with back-to-school time in September, the cooler temperatures and the coziness of the season. Decor-wise, I always swap out the candles I’m using in favor of warm, earthy, smoky or spiced scents. I also add fairytale pumpkins on our steps out front, and we definitely go big on Halloween decor as well.

## What aspect of the Gray Malin lifestyle brand do you connect with the most?

> I really connect with Gray’s story and have loved following his entrepreneurial journey over the years. It’s been fun to see the brand expand beyond art and into some really fun product collaborations, and overall I love the concept of making every day a getaway. He’s so talented and I love to support his work!
