Design Q&A with Knot & Tide

Q: Tell us a little about yourself!

A: We are Hillary and Chantal, founders of Knot + Tide Interiors—a Naples-based luxury interior design studio specializing in custom homes, large-scale renovations, and curated furnishings. We dedicate ourselves to crafting timeless, layered spaces that balance effortless elevation with true livability.

Q: How would you describe your interior design style?

A: We describe our style as timeless coastal: light-filled, warm, and intentionally curated. By balancing sophisticated, crisp details with the ease of relaxed living, we design spaces that possess an elegance and deep comfort, entirely unbothered by trends.

Q: From your color selections to your furniture, can you walk us through your design process? Where do you begin?

A: Our process always begins with the home's architectural bones—specifying the foundational elements like cabinetry, flooring, decorative tile, and lighting. From there, we layer in the furnishings, rich textures, fabrics, and artwork, creating a deeply inviting space where every element feels connected.

Q: What’s one of the greatest interior design lessons you have learned throughout your career?

A: Timeless design is always the right investment. We’ve learned that prioritizing everyday functionality and the client's authentic story is far more important than chasing what's trending. A well-designed home shouldn't just look beautiful today—it should adapt and endure beautifully for years to come.

Q: Where do you turn for inspiration?

A: We find inspiration through travel, architecture, fashion, and the effortless ease of coastal living. We are also continuously inspired by discovery—seeking out new materials and craftsmanship at markets and showrooms to keep our work both current and timeless.

Q: Is there a photo of mine from any of my series that you would love to style in one of your projects, if so which one and where?

A: We absolutely love your photograph of the Naples Pier. It is such a historic, meaningful landmark for Naples and losing it during Hurricane Ian affected our local community. You truly captured the authentic essence of Southwest Florida. We would love to feature it as a statement piece in one of our downtown Naples projects, creating an anchor that feels both deeply personal and timeless.
