Artwork Update

Artwork Update

Hi Friends,

The interior of The Gray Malin Getaway House is almost complete — just a few final touches needed — so I wanted to take some time to tell you about what artwork we’re going to be including! If you want to catch up on what’s been going on take a look back at Part 1 and Part 2 of the interior design and renovations. There’s also a sneak peek of the exterior you can find here. The grand reveal is so close, and I can’t wait to share with you all.

In this project artwork wasn’t just the finishing touch of the home, it was what drove the design. With over 70 pieces of artwork we wanted to make sure the design thoughtfully reflected our picks. I was so excited to be able to pick pieces from my catalog of work to include in each room. While you're here, don't forget to shop our Memorial Day Sale — we're offering 25% off all photography (and free shipping) this week only!

Primary Bedroom

We really wanted the primary bedroom to feel like a getaway, so using my ITALY book as inspiration, we went with a coastal Italian theme. The idea behind this room with the artwork and the wallpaper was to feel like it was always sunny – transporting our guests to somewhere warm and relaxing. We included Positano Beach Coast above the bed, which is framed so nicely by the canopy posts. Even though it’s not at the center of the room, Two Chairs, La Fontelina Capri II greets you when you first walk into the room. Because the wallpaper and bed frame are warmer neutrals we wanted the prints to play into that.

Bunk Room

For the bunk room we wanted the art to be just as playful as the design while still being kid-friendly, so we decided to use prints from my San Ysidro Ranch series! Welcome to San Ysidro Ranch and Pool Day, San Ysidro Ranch sit next to the window. Upon entering the room we placed Weekend Getaway, San Ysidro Ranch to bring some glam vintage into the space. These prints work so well in this room because the blues and greens in the shots tie in with the bunk, bedding and curtains. It was so special asking my kids to help pick which prints they wanted in this room. Plus, I love the nod to the famed Montecito hotel, just up the road.

Media Room
Frame 58

In the media room we decided to go with a theme of artwork featuring one of my favorite subjects to shoot — dogs! The hero image of this room is Pool Day, Coral Casino which I shot earlier this year at the private pool club around the corner. We took inspiration from the coral umbrellas and carried that through the room on the molding and wainscotting. It was a bit of a bold statement, but I absolutely love how it turned out. It is such a fun space to be in. We also featured Pool Day, The Colony Hotel on the opposite wall from my Palm Beach series, almost bookending the room from coast to coast. Speaking of books, this room will be the best spot to hang and flip through my new DOGS coffee table book coming in October.

Those are all the updates I have for now! The house is so close to being finished, and I’m so excited to share it with you all. For more updates follow the Gray Malin Getaway House on Instagram.
