A Perfect Nantucket Day

Hi everyone!

Happy summer! Nantucket has always been one of my favorite places to visit with my family, and each trip feels like its own little summer story.

From ferry rides and lighthouse views to beachside afternoons and the prettiest pink sunsets, here's a day on Nantucket with me and my family, from morning to night.

FIRST LIGHT

Wheels Down at ACK

There's a particular kind of joy in that first step off the plane at Nantucket Memorial Airport. The little grey-shingled terminal, the whale on the town seal, and two very excited kids wheeling their own suitcases toward summer.

The moment those bags hit the cobblestones, the island works its magic.

MORNING

Out on the Water

We start the day the best way we know how, on the water. This summer, the kids graduated from passengers to full-fledged first mates, baiting their own hooks and reeling in scup off the stern like seasoned pros.

MIDDAY

Into Town

By afternoon, we trade the boat for four wheels, ideally something vintage. Cruising the cobblestones of Main Street in a classic Jeep, or bumping down a sandy back lane in an old Bronco, is peak Nantucket.

The kids think it's the greatest ride at the fair, and we always leave room for a sprinkle cone through the rose-covered arbor.

LATE AFTERNOON

Lunch by the Sea

No perfect island day is complete without a proper Nantucket feast. Whether it's a lobster roll by the water or a lazy, sandy-toes lunch right on the beach, this is the moment to slow down, order another round, and let the kids beat you at Uno while the ocean does its thing.

GOLDEN HOUR APPROACHES

Beach Time

Then it's back to the shore for the softest stretch of the day. There's a bluff, a white rail fence, and a view that stops you every single time.

We let the kids run, watch the light turn gold, and remember exactly why Nantucket always calls us back.

GOLDEN HOUR

The Best Light of the Day

And then, golden hour. This is Nantucket at its most magical: warm sand, pink skies, kids up on shoulders, and one last splash in the waves before dinner.

It's the same lighthouse we've photographed countless times, but somehow, it feels new every summer, especially seeing it through the eyes of two little ones who keep growing bigger with each visit.

SUNDOWN

A Place That Captures the Heart

There's something about Nantucket in the summertime that stays with you long after the sun goes down.

And whether you're dreaming of your next trip or simply looking to bring a little of that coastal calm home, we're offering 30% off all photography, including some of my favorite Nantucket-inspired prints.
