Out of Office: My Top Bucket List Travel Destinations

Hi Everyone,

Last week, I shared my Bucket List for Summer. Well today, I'm back with a twist on the proverbial bucket list. If you’re familiar with my work, then you’re probably familiar with my travels, as well. Since capturing my images requires going to some far away places, I get to jetset to what seems like the far ends of the earth to work and play. (And I’m still pinching myself that this is my career!) But despite the stamps in my passport I’ve already been fortunate enough to collect, there are still a handful of locations on my mind that I haven’t been—but I’m hoping to get to in the near future. And, knowing myself, that list will probably just keep growing.

Keep reading, because today I’m sharing my top seven with you all (any guesses before we get started?). And who knows, maybe you’ll add some of my bucket list travel destinations to your own list! So without further ado… Where to?

TOKYO

I’ve been to some pretty remote places where it seems like there wasn’t a soul in sight for miles, and Tokyo is the exact opposite of that. With over 9 million in the city alone, it sounds like quite the bustling city, to say the least! But the mix of modern and traditional architecture, culture, and art all in one place is something that definitely appeals to me. So to anyone who has been to this busy city—any recs?

AMSTERDRAM

Let’s be honest… who doesn’t want to visit Amsterdam? This city is well-known for its stunning canal system flanked by narrow houses and plenty of memorable art museums. Not to mention, it is home to world-renowned flower markets and almost 100,000 bikes.I'm always down for a bike tour (see Barcelona travel guide). Seriously. They even have a museum you can bike through!

TEL AVIV

Tel Aviv, Israel seems like such a vibrant and interesting place that I’d just love to explore. Let’s put it this way… the official @TelAviv Twitter account says this: “Think of New York. Then picture Rio. Now throw in a little Berlin.” I’m sure that’s just the beginning, but that’s enough to pique my interest, that’s for sure. After all, I do love Rio

SALZBURG

Ah, Salzburg. Between Mozart’s birthplace, palace gardens, hilltop fortresses, the Salzach River AND a view of the Alps, there’s really nothing more you could want, right? This Austrian city seems so enchanting to me—plus, no one can refuse seeing a few places where the famed flick The Sound of Music took place.

RAVELLO

To preface, I just checked this little resort town on the Amalfi Coast in Italy off my list. It has long beenone that I have danced around while shooting La Dolce Vita over the years, and this past July, I finallyhad the pleasure to visit. I’m a fanatic about this region as it is, and this particular spot, nicknamed the City of Music, ranked very high on my list. It’s known for its iconic cliffside gardens, quaint villas and B&Bs, and the views from this spot are bar none. Allll my favorite things. I can NOT wait to share images from this trip! Patience, though.

COASTAL MAINE

You know I love a good East Coast vacay, and Maine is home to an abundance of photogenic coastal towns. It’s basically a prepster’s dream—think lighthouses, sailing, sunsets over the water, and plenty of lobster rolls. After all, my trips to Newport,Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard wereone for the books, so if Coastal Maine is anything like it, I’ll be happy.

CROATIA

Last, but certainly not least, Croatia is a stop I’m hoping to make next time we make our way to Eastern Europe. It encompasses over 1,000 islands (which is definitely speaking my language…) and it’s dotted with resorts, national parks, sea caves, and countless waterfalls. A day on the water and in the sky over this stunning location is something I long to add to my to-do list.

What destinations are on your own travel bucket list?

Hopefully my photography takes you to some of those places and makes every day a getaway. As long as that’s true, the long hours and jet lag are well worth it.

Cheers!

Xx
