Hi Everyone,

TGIF!! I am hot off my Be Our Guest! book tour, and I'm so excited to be back home. Just in time for Cinco, I might add! In honor of everyone's favorite margarita drinking day, and the ultimate I AM BUSY moment, I wanted to share my 5 Favorite Margaritas. Let me preface, though...I haven't met too many margaritas that I didn't like, so this list was harder to write that it would seem. Kicking it off...

1. MAMBO TAXI

If you know me, then you already know that I grew up in Dallas, TX. For anyone who's been to Dallas, then I hope you've been to the delicious Mi Cocina restaurant and tried one of their dangerously good Mambo Taxi Margaritas. It is an intoxicating swirl of blended margarita and sangria. Doesn't get much better than that, right? A quick google will find you a lot of results, so users choice but this recipe from The Fauxmartha sounds like it'll hit the spot.

INGREDIENTS

  • Sangria
  • 1/2 c.Seven Daughters Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 1/4 c. orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 tbsp. lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 tsp. agave nectar
  • Margarita
  • 1/2 c. tequila (100% pure agave)
  • 1/4 c. triple sec (or Cointreau)
  • 1/4 c. lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. agave nectar
  • pinch of kosher salt
  • 2 c. of ice, heaping

2. RANCH WATER

Via the multi-talented Jordan of Ramshackle Glam, who you've met here a few times, comes her refreshing spin on the classic margarita, a Ranch Water Cocktail. The twist is all in the tasty salted rim, as it's got a couple extra ingredients to keep it interesting.

INGREDIENTS

  • Topo Chico Sparkling Mineral Water (or whatever sparkling water you have)
  • Silver Tequila
  • Fresh Limes
  • Maldon Sea Salt (or a similar flaky sea salt)
  • Aleppo Pepper (or a mix of equal parts cayenne pepper and paprika)
  • Shaker or jar with lid

Head here for a full step by step, then enjoy the sips of your labor!

3. THE CLASSIC

It doesn't get much easier or more enjoyable than a classic margarita made with fresh ingredients. Milagro Silver is one of my 'go to' tequilas when entertaining, as it's crisp taste will satisfy any crowd. The recipe is pretty darn easy, too...so don't hesitate to make a pitcher for 5.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 parts Milagro Silver Tequila
  • ¾ part Agave Nectar
  • 1 part Fresh Lime Juice

Pour all ingredients in a Boston Shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a lime wheel.

DONE & DONE.

4. THE SPICY MARGARITA

I know there are a lot of spice lovers out there, and for you, I suggest thePeninsula Hotel Beverly Hills' speckled jalapeño margarita, served at the hotel's Roof Garden. Made from Patron, Grand Marnier, fresh citrus juice and thin slices of jalapeño, it's a classic margarita with a kicked!

5. THE SKINNY PARTY

Last but certainly not least, the Skinny Margarita. I found this recipe on Well Plated, and I have to say - I can't wait to make it at home. It's a combination of fresh lime and orange juice..

INGREDIENTS

  • To rim the glass: kosher salt, lime wedge
  • 1 1/2 ounces silver tequila (about 3 tablespoons)
  • 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice (about 1 large or 1 1/2 small limes)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice (about 1/2 medium orange)
  • 1 teaspoon light agave nectar (add 2 if you prefer a sweeter margarita)
  • Ice

For variations on this new classic, check out all of Well Plated's suggestions.

What's your favorite version of margarita? Personally, I love them all and they all have a place in my margarita loving heart. Want to know the best way to truly enjoy one, though? While gazing at your brand new I AM BUSY print...

Cheers,

xx
