You're Invited: Celebrate Earth Day

Hi Everyone

As many of you know, April 22 isEarth Day. In honor of this universal celebration of our planet, I would like to revisit the life-changing photo shoot I did in Antarctica last year and the resultingcollection of the same name.

Journeying by boat from South America, I landed in Antarctica to shoot this exclusiveseries only to be met with unpredictable iceberg calving, weather, inspiration, and excitement. There's no other place like it in the world, this icy continent is as temperamental as it is beautiful.

Antarctica, the last true wilderness of our planet, is dramatically changing just as we are starting to understand its great significance. I was drawn to the natural landscape of this glacier covered continent as well as the formations of floating icebergs.

At one point during the shoot, we were in a bay with such high glacial cleaving that we were not allowed to be down on the beach in case of tsunamis. Then another poignant moment, I was mid-shot when one of the glaciers broke off and popped our tube. It was without question a reflective day, one which has remained with me, ever since.

Needless to say, this was a trip of a lifetime in more ways than one as it certainly put things in perspective for me about the effects of global warming. It is with this in mind, that I celebrate today and every day as Earth Day, and I encourage you to find what inspires you to do the same!

If you would like to learn more and/or help protect the beauty of the white continent and stay aware of current climate change initiatives, please look toThe Climate Reality Project. Proceeds from myAntarctica series go to this amazing organization that moves the climate change conversation forward and turns awareness into action.

Cheers!

xx
